6061 aluminum sheet is a harder, more machinable aluminum. It is the workhorse of heat-treat alloys. Uses include the prodsuction of sailboats, canoes, truck and bus bodies, scaffolding, transmission towers, mine skips, furniture, chemical and marine equipment, and hardware.
6061-T651 aluminum is 6061 aluminum in the T651 temper. To achieve this temper, the metal is solution heat-treated, stress relieved, then artificially aged. The stress relief is accomplished by stretching the metal by an amount that depends on the type of standard wrought prodsuct being made (sheet, sheet, bars, or forging).
