6063 Aluminum Flat Bar

1.Introdsuction of the 6063 Aluminum Flat Bar

6063 aluminum rods is a low alloyed Al-Mg-Si series high plasticity alloy. It has many valuable features: 

1. Strengthened by heat treatment, high impact toughness, and insensitive to missing. 

2. With excellent thermoplasticity, it can be extruded at high speed into complex, thin-walled and hollow profiles or forged into forgings with complex structure, wide quenching temperature range, low quenching sensitivity, after extrusion and forging demoulding, as long as the temperature is higher than the quenching temperature. It can be quenched by water spray or water penetration. Thin-walled parts (6<3mm) can also be air quenched. 

3. Excellent welding performance and corrosion resistance, no stress corrosion cracking tendency. Among heat-treatable-strengthened aluminum alloys, Al-Mg-Si alloys are the only alloys that have not found stress corrosion cracking. 

4. The surface after processing is very smooth and easy to anodize and color. The disadvantage is that if it is aged at room temperature for a period of time after quenching, it will adversely affect the strength (parking effect).

3.Prodsuct Feature

It’s common for this prodsuct to be in the T6 or T4 condition. In these states, the machinability rate of 6063 aluminums is between 50 and 80 percent of 2011 at 100 percent. In the T6 condition, the fatigue strength is 10,000 psi, shear strength is 22,000 psi, machinability is 50%, bearing yield strength is 40,000 psi, ultimate bearing strength is 62,900 psi, shear modulus is 3,740 ksi, modulus elasticity is 10,000 ksi, tensile yield strength is 31,000 psi and ultimate tensile strength is 35,000 psi. When in its natural state, this metal has a tensile strength at 27,000, yield strength at 21,000 and shear strength as 17,000.

Different methods of heat treatment can be used to form this grade of aluminum. Possible methods that can be used include annealing, aging precipitation heat treatment and solution heat treatment. For solution heat treating, the temperature has to be set at 970 degrees F. Annealing can be done at 775 degrees F and aging precipitation should be done at 350 degrees F.

4.Prodsuct Application

Construction profiles, irrigation tubes, extruded materials for vehicles, benches, furniture, lifts, fences, etc., as well as decorative components of different colors for aircraft, ships, light industry sectors, buildings, etc.
